Huron Peak is one of the most photogenic and approachable 14ers in the Sawatch. The standard route is short, scenic, and class 2 — perfect for hikers building up to harder peaks.

Standard Route

From the Winfield Trailhead at the end of the Clear Creek 4WD road, the trail climbs through forest into a beautiful upper basin before ascending Huron's south side. 6.5 miles round trip, 3,500 feet of gain.

What to Expect

The view from Huron's summit takes in the Three Apostles to the south — some of the most dramatic non-14er peaks in Colorado. The trailhead is at 10,500 feet, so the climb is shorter than most.
