Tabeguache Peak is Mount Shavano's lower twin. The two are connected by a class 2 ridge traverse and are typically climbed together. Tabeguache standalone is rare.
Standard Route
From Mount Shavano's summit, drop 600 feet to the connecting saddle then climb 500 feet up Tabeguache's east ridge. Adds 1 mile and ~1,000 feet of total gain to the Shavano trip.
What to Expect
The traverse is class 2 with some loose rock. Watch your footing on the descent back to the saddle — many slips happen on the return leg when fatigue sets in.
