North Maroon Peak shares the Deadly Bells reputation with its taller neighbor. The standard route is a sustained class 4 scramble on the same loose, dangerous rock. Not a beginner peak.

Standard Route

From the Maroon Lake Scenic Trailhead (permit/shuttle required), the trail follows the West Buttress through forest and into the upper basin. The class 4 sections begin around 12,500 feet and continue to the summit. 9.25 miles round trip.

What to Expect

Same warnings as Maroon Peak — rotten rock, real exposure, route-finding challenges. Bring a helmet and climb with experienced partners.
