Wilson Peak is the mountain on the Coors beer can — one of Colorado's most photographed peaks. The standard route is class 3 with some exposed scrambling near the summit.
Standard Route
From the Rock of Ages Trailhead near Telluride, the trail climbs to Rock of Ages saddle at 13,000 feet then ascends Wilson's south ridge through class 3 sections. 10 miles round trip, 4,000 feet of gain.
What to Expect
The summit pitch involves loose class 3 climbing — wear a helmet and be careful of climbers above you. Mount Wilson (a different, taller peak) and El Diente are nearby and require technical climbing.
