Torreys Peak rises just north of Grays across a low saddle, and the two are nearly always climbed together. Torreys is the steeper of the pair with more dramatic ridges, including the technical Kelso Ridge route favored by experienced climbers.
Standard Route
From the Grays summit, descend 560 feet southwest to the Grays-Torreys saddle, then climb 560 feet up Torreys' south ridge. Most climbers do Grays first and add Torreys; reverse-order works too. Adds about 1 mile and 600 feet of gain to the Grays trip.
What to Expect
The saddle between the two peaks is exposed to wind and weather — if conditions are deteriorating, descend instead of pushing through. Kelso Ridge (class 3) is a serious alternative for experienced climbers and requires route-finding and basic scrambling skills.
