Mount Shavano is best known for the 'Angel of Shavano' snowfield visible on its east face in spring. The standard route is class 2 and is typically combined with Tabeguache Peak via the connecting ridge.
Standard Route
From the Blank Cabin trailhead, the trail climbs through forest to the saddle between Shavano and Tabeguache, then ascends Shavano's south ridge. 9 miles round trip, 4,500 feet of gain.
What to Expect
Most climbers do Shavano and Tabeguache together — drop to the connecting saddle and climb the second peak. Tabeguache adds 1 mile and 1,000 feet to the day. Plan for 8-10 hours total.
